A Card for Fall

Hello!  Click here to continue along with the Inking Pink Blog Hop now going on through October 31st!

In the meantime, here is something I thought I would share with you all.  Anne over at Paper Patch Crafts is holding a fall inspired card challenge and so I decided I would create something to share.  And here is what I came up with:

The digi stamp is available at my very own stamp site, Shelley Bean Stamps.  I colored my little indian maiden with copic markers using the feathering technique.  I think it added a little texture to the fabric of her dress.  The background was embossed with a cuttlebug folder and the tiny Prima flowers were purchased from Paper Patch Crafts.  I embellished them with my I-Rock tool and Glam Rocks.  It was super fun to create.

I hope you enjoy!  Please check out this and other fun rubber stamps and digi stamps now available at Shelley Bean Stamps
UPDATE!!! New digi-stamps JUST added at Shelley Bean Stamps.  Please check them out!!

Copic Markers used:
Dress:  E99,E13,YR12
Flesh tone:  E11,E00, R20

I also would love to invite new friends to join me at my facebook!  There you can share all your ideas and creations with me.  Ask me questions or show me the fun things you have made too!  I would love to get to know you all better!  Please come and join!

If you have just arrived from Nicole's blog, I am sure you were treated to her wonderful talent.  She always has the most creative ideas to share.  As for me, as I thought about what I wanted to share today I knew it would be another album.  This time I had in mind my 2 sisters and how much I love them and appreciate them.  I built this album based on the idea when I finish it I will include pictures of the 3 of us as we grew up together.  But for now, I will share with you my ideas in their rough draft.  (because these albums take a lot of work and forethought, and I want it to be "just right" in its' finished format.  When I do get it completed, I will show you all again with a video.  For now...here it is! (There are a lot of pictures...I hope you enjoy!)

The flowers are handmade.  I will show a tutorial soon on these.  The frame was made by making faux chipboard with the Stretch your Imagination Cricut cartridge

The fun slider card!  Tutorial coming soon!
The mini book made with 1 sheet of 12x12 paper.  I think there is another tutorial in the works!
Lots of pockets all through this paperbag album for tags and photos.
Flip out album...lots of fun pages to add your photos or journaling
Now for some blog candy....

To win this candy it's very simple!  Become a follower of my blog, leave a comment and remember to include an email address so I can contact you should you win!!  Here is what you will win.  One original rubber stamp designed by me from Shelley Bean Stamps.  3 handmade flowers and a mini book for you to accessorize however you would like.

And the Winner is....

Good morning all my craft-lovin' friends!  I have a winner for the Paper Bag Album to share with you from the Funmare before Halloween Blog Hop over the weekend.  Before I announce that though, I want to thank all of you for your wonderful comments and the support you have given me.  This little blog here goes a long ways in my life, to give me some balance and an outlet for my creativity...but also to feel a sense of sharing when I might show you an idea that inspires you to be creative as well.  With all that being said though...it is going to be really hard to part with this album today, so I am hopeful the winner truly loves it and gives it a good home.  :)

I used the random generator to pick my winner.  And the winner is:

Okay, ReinasMomma AKA Scary Spice...send me your physical address via email so I can send the fun little album out to you!!  And Congrats!

For everyone else...stay tuned and visit often, because there is always something being given away sooner or later.  :)

Now to share with you a scrap page I made yesterday.  This one was of my son Trey (now 14) and a vacation we had while visiting the Oregon coast.  (my hometown)  He and a seagull were having an interesting time together seeing who could stand their ground better.  I am not sure who won the battle.

I hand-lettered the words on the page. And added some gemstones with my I-Rock tool to frame everything a little bit.  The seashells were made with the Stretch Your Imagination Cricut Cart and the scallop was created with the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.  FYI: If you set the dial to 1 3/4" size it will make a scallop that utilizes the whole width of your 12x12 paper.
This page is part of a challenge over at Paper Patch Crafts using this layout sketch:
Go take a look and enter your scrap page idea before midnight October 19 and you could win a fun prize!!

Funmare Before Halloween Blog Hop!!!

Wooooooooo....are you totally terrified by now?  Has the hop been a blast so far?  Well, it's not over yet!  I have more to share with you!  You most likely just left the fun and frightening blog over at Nicole's.  I am sure she delighted you with her cool and creative talent!

So, here is what I cooked up for you today!  A Paper Bag Album!  I had such fun creating this too.  It became a bit more involved than I had anticipated because I just couldn't stop adding more and more things to it.  After I show you all the photos, I will have a video of the details of the album as well.  (It is uploading as we speak...if you don't see it here yet...you will shortly).  Be sure to read to the bottom because I have some very special blog candy to offer you!

Without further ado...here it is!!

I made the buttons on the left side using the Brad Maker by Imaginesce.  The stamped images are my very own Digi images now available over at my stamp site ShelleyBeanStamps.

I created many tags to slide into all the fun little pockets hidden throughout the album.  The images were cut using the October 31 cartridge with my Cricut.

The papers and most of the supplies used were mainly provided very generously by Paper Patch Crafts!
The Chandelier was cut from the Home Decor Cricut Cartridge
It's easy and fun to create little photo mats with coordinating papers.
You can make your own photo corners by cutting a square scrap on the diagonal and popping tiny glue dots in each color.  The photo can simply slide into the corner pockets.

And here is the video!
I learned how to make the basic's of the album by watching the how-to video at this link.

So, what did you think of this album?  Would you like to learn to make your own?  How would you like to own THIS ALBUM?  Well, that is what I am offering for my blog candy.  Become a follower (if you are not already) and leave me a comment WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS!  And for fun, tell me what your favorite Halloween costume has been.  I will randomly choose 1 person as a winner Sunday night and ship this fun little album out to the winner on Monday.

Now it's time to hop on your broom and head on over to Tammy's Blog and see what she has prepared to scare you with today!!

If you have lost your way...here is the hop line up!

Something Wicked This Way Comes...

I thought by now I would be tired of Halloween crafts, but I'm not! I continue to have a lot of fun with this theme and I am totally still in love with the Cricut October 31 cartridge. Over at Paper Patch Crafts, Anne is having a contest that follows this sketch theme for a card. You have until midnight (woooooo) tomorrow, the 11th, to get your submission in.
Here is the Sketch

And here is what I created:
Here are some close-ups of the poem as well.  My hubby didn't write this one but some of you may remember a few years back that Lexus had an ad campaign that took the lines from Shakespeare's "by the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes" as quoted by one of the witches in Macbeth.  Their campaign was a series of commercials with eeries scenes and these stanzas:

There also was a book with the same title "Something Wicked This Way Comes" written by Ray Bradbury, which was also made into a movie.  You could rent that now for your Halloween viewing.  But that is not where it ends..."Something wicked this way comes" is a lyric sung in "Double Trouble," a song written by John Williams (with lyrics from Macbeth) for Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. You can see a clip of that song here.  It was also used as a tagline to the film on posters and other promotional material.

And there you have it....my contribution to creepy bits of literature and pop culture.
 Enjoy....if you dare...

Halloween Album #2--Blank Coasters and the I-ROCK!

How is your weekend going?  I am so happy mine is here!  I had quite a stressful week and so it was really nice to sit in my craftroom a little today and create this very special post I wanted to share with you.  Yesterday I shared  a fun accordian album I learned how to make.  But, that is not the only trick I have up my sleeve...in fact you could even call this a treat!  (get it...trick..or...treat? teeheehee)  Anyway...as promised I have the 2nd tutorial ready to share with you and that utilizes these very handy dandy items called Blank Coasters.

You can purchase these at Paper Patch Crafts.  I know I sure am going to order some more, because this idea came together pretty easily for me and was not really that involved at all!

The coasters measure 4" x 4" so it was really simple to cut my patterned paper out, round off the corners and adhere them to the fronts and backs of the coasters.  Just as an FYI, the coasters are a lightweight chipboard.  When you start building up the surface with your paper layers they really become a nice heavy weight item that can hold up to all the embellishments you might want to add to your page.  Click over to Anne's Website and you can order these for yourself!
Here is a little video I made that showcases this fun album, and also demonstrates my new I-Rock tool from Imaginisce.  Love it!  I hope you will too!!

Supplies Used:
K & Company Patterned Paper
Prima Little Boo Line
I-Rock tool and gemstones from Imaginisce
Plantin Schoolbook Cricut Cartridge (for tags)

Halloween Album Do-Over!

Hi again!  Whew, what a night I had last night.  I knew I needed to get a post up on time, but I honestly was not feeling well and didn't have the time to get it set up just right.  So, this is my do-over post.  I will provide a little more information about my post from last night featuring the cute little Halloween Accordian album.  I want to start off by admitting I did not come up with this idea out of my own little head.  As with most things...you search around and find something special and then copy, copy, copy!  This concept was totally lifted from the very talented blog over at Cards TV.

So, here is the end results (as shared last evening) of my Accordian Album.

I was fortunate enough to be asked by Anne from Paper Patch Crafts to be one of her designers for her fun scrapbooking and craft store.  As I mentioned earlier, she recently sent me a box full of goodies and so I wanted to showcase a couple of the fun things I was able to create this past week.  Last night I showed you the photos of my fun little Accordian Album.  I also made a tutorial that explains the process I went through to construct the basic accordian album and I thought I would share that with you tonight.

I thought I might also mention that I will have another tutorial I will post tomorrow evening that has a 2nd version of the Accordian Album, only this one will showcase a really cool items she has for sale at her store called Blank Coasters.  I will show you how I made another type of Accordian Album using more of the fun items she sent me along with the blank coasters.  So come back tomorrow night for more fun!!  (She also has a Halloween card challenge going on at her facebook right now...come and participate.  She is giving a way a fun prize!!)
Materials Used:
Prima Marketing Products
Little Yellow Bicycle Products
October 31 Cricut Cartridge
K& Company Card Stock
lots of imagination....

Halloween Accordian Album Preview

Good evening everyone!  I had so much fun in the last few days because I was working on a very special project for Paper Patch Crafts.  A few weeks ago I was asked to join her design team and she sent me a package filled with all sorts of delightful papers and embellishments.  It was like Christmas AND Halloween all rolled into one.  Here is the fun project I created for you.

More details will be posted about this album and another one I will be working on along with a video tutorial tomorrow night.  I wasn't able to get my video uploaded onto youtube last night and so it's not quite ready to share with you.  Be sure to check back in for all the juicy details!!

WitchiePoo...Where Are You?

This week has been flying by! Here it is Wednesday night already and I haven't added anything new or fun to my blog since the weekend. I decided I had better share something with you today. I made this card a couple weeks ago and have been waiting for the perfect time to share it, and I think the time has arrived!
Over the weekend, while participating in the Little Hop of Horrors, I gave away some free digital images from my stamp site Shelley Bean Stamps.  And the top choice among many of you was my little witchiepoo digi.  So, I decided now would be a good time to show you how I made her into a card.

When I was a kid (and I am really going to show my age here) I used to watch a children's television show on Saturday mornings called H.R. Pufinstuff.  And there was a character on that show named Witchie-poo.  I think from my 1st memories of watching the Wizard of Oz, I have had a freaky kind of fear of the traditional looking witches like this one:

We were so sheltered back in the day and I think children now are subjected to so many scary and violent images that they roll over laughing at the thought anyone would find this sort of thing remotely "scary".  She doesn't seem so scary anymore, and neither does my cute little Witchiepoo below. What do you think?

My card is a gate-fold card.  I colored the image with copic markers and then covered the image in Inkssentials Glossy Accents to make it all shiny and stand out on the card.  I added a few button embellishments to make an anchor for the top flap of the card and allow it to stay closed if I choose.  I have previous instructions on making this type of card at this post.

Heartstrings and ...The Little Hop of Horrors

Little hop of horrors at Canadian Nickel Scrap\
Hello, my name is Shelley and welcome to Heartstring Designs!!  I am so honored that Nicole included me in her fang-tastic blog hop today and I am so happy you found your way here from the amazing Robyn over at My Pink Stamper.  I am sure you loved the wonderful project she offered you as well as all the fun bloggers you have met along the way that have put their "spell" on you.  If you have stumbled upon me and want to start at the very beginning of this amazing hop, you can hop over to the beginning of it all and visit Barb at Haunted Design House.   Be sure to read all the way through my post today, because there is a giveaway at the end!!

Today I decided I would share with you something a little different.  I took one of my Vintage Girl Rubberstamps from my very own stamp line over at Shelley Bean Stamps and using my Copic Markers, turned her into something a little different.  How do you like her now?

Here she is sporting her new greenish skin-tone and her red eyes under a ghastly moon....After the transformation I showed her to my husband and asked his opinion.  He said he liked the look of it...a bit eerie, kind of s e x y...but he thought she was maybe a little too "good-looking" considering she was now one of the undead.  And my reply was, "maybe that is the idea" and he took that notion of predator vs prey and wrote a poem to go with it.  (Yes, he is a fantastic poet!)

On Friday night my husband and I watched "Sleepy Hollow" with Johnny Depp, and something about this image reminds me a lot of that movie.  Kind of fun and in the spirit of Halloween.  Love it!

We then combined our ideas together and made a framed wall hanging.  I think we may actually keep it out year-round.  I like it a lot!

Supplies Used:
My Minds Eye Decorative Papers
Woodland Girl  from Shelley Bean Stamps (now available)
October 31 Cricut Cartridge

(if you don't list your choice..I will simply choose one for you) I will randomly draw 10 winners on Monday, October 4th.  And while you are over there it would make me really happy to have you leave a comment and become a follower there as well.  (but that part is not required!)

Now, it's time to go and check out the amazing Suzi at The Manic World of Mrs. Weyremaster.  You are sure to be ghoulishly delighted! :)
